Sam Schwartz

Sam Schwartz has more than 25 years of leadership experience in asset management, investment banking, and as a member of various boards.

Sam is a Managing partner of Independent Investment Partners, a fully integrated, multi-affiliate investment management firm, based in New York and London.

He is also a Senior Advisor Managing Director at Credit Suisse and Former Board & Investment Committee Member of HighTower Advisors.

Sam held several leadership roles at Credit Suisse including his most recent position as CEO of Asset Management Finance (AMF). At AMF, Sam managed a portfolio of 18 investments (hedge funds, private equity funds, wealth management businesses) with over $80 Billion of AUM. Some of his significant portfolio accomplishments included selling five companies for substantial gains, managing bankruptcy for full recovery on investment, and negotiating a major capital restructuring.

As Global Head of Mergers & Acquisitions in the Asset Management Division, Sam led global strategic acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, and spin-offs. He completed a minority stake investment in York Capital, purchase of AMF, the sale of Strategic Partners to Blackstone, and sale of Customized Fund Investment Group (CFIG) to Grosvenor. He directly evaluated more than 50 Hedge Funds, Private Equity Funds, Fund of Funds, CLOs, Real Estate, Long Only, Wealth, Seeding, Staking and Emerging Markets Managers.

As Managing Director in the M&A Group, Sam executed many M&A transactions and covered multiple industries including transportation, technology, healthcare, and general industrial.

Prior to Credit Suisse, Sam was a Managing Director in the M&A Group at Merrill Lynch. In this role, Sam led the worldwide M&A computer services efforts and established a presence in the software and business-to-business e-commerce market.

Sam previously served as the President of Bryant Park Capital, where he completed transactions mainly in the software sector.

Sam received his BS in accounting from Binghamton University, holds FINRA Series 7, 24, and 63 Securities Licenses and is a CPA.
